DeWitt County Burn Ban
Aug 01, 2012
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ON JULY 31, 2012
BY ORDER OF FIRE CHIEFS, FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT TRUSTEES OR CITY OFFICIALS, THE MAJORITY OF DEWITT COUNTY IS UNDER A
BURN BAN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
These orders are due to extreme drought, extremely dry conditions and excessive heat.
The following areas of DeWitt County and Fire Departments that serve part of our county have issued
OFFICIAL BURN BANS:
CITY OF CLINTON, CITY OF FARMER CITY, CISCO FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, CLINTON RURAL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES – CLINTON LAKE SRA and WELDON SPRINGS SRA, FARMER CITY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT (DEWITT COUNTY AREA ONLY), WAPELLA FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, WAYNESVILLE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT and WELDON FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT.
I appreciate any assistance the media can give in helping us inform the public of these Burn Bans and the dangers of the extreme drought conditions. Any type of spark can easily start a fire – open burning, charcoal grills, cigarettes, the heat generated by a vehicle engine, etc. Please contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you, Teresa
